Born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Andrew studied at Wakefield School of Art, focusing on painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and art history. His creative journey continued in Wiltshire, where he expanded his practice to include graphic design, 3D design, photography, and illustration. He spent years working in the advertising and design sector as a designer, illustrator, and director of photography.
Yet, fine art painting remained Andrew’s first love.
Today, his richly composed works capture the subtle drama of everyday scenes — from still life and architecture to landscapes across the British Isles and Europe. Water and reflected light are recurring themes in his art, drawn from both his Wiltshire home and his travels abroad.
Andrew’s work is distinguished by:
- Traditional techniques in oil and acrylic
- A masterful use of colour and atmosphere
- Dynamic compositions with a designer’s eye for balance
- A fluid, adaptive painting style based on subject and emotion
Beyond the Canvas
Andrew also creates sculptures and ceramics, enjoying the tactile nature of 3D work. His hand-made and thrown ceramic pieces — alongside stone and resin sculptures — reflect the same attention to form and mood found in his paintings.
